Have you just moved into a luxury apartment on St Kilda Road? Naturally, you'll want to know the best spots to exercise and keep fit. While the area itself is teeming with luxury high-rises and other buildings, it still offers close proximity to many places where you can keep fit and have fun.

Take a Walk

St. Kilda Road itself is a tree-lined street that offers plenty of shade and a bike path. You can enjoy walking on the pavement or even taking your bike for a safe ride in your designated lane. St Kilda Road stretches from the Yarra River all the way down to the neighbourhood of St Kilda, from Southbank through Windsor and Prahran, Elsternwick and more. Stretching your legs along this formidable street is a great way to get your heart rate up and explore Melbourne’s South Side.

Jogging in the Park

St Kilda Road is close to many green spaces, including the Royal Botanical Gardens. Stretching along the Yarra and with many paths for walking or running, this is the perfect park to explore and go for a jog. There are so many hidden treasures amidst the thick bush and palm trees of the Botanical Gardens, making it a joy to go for a new scenic run every day. It’s even mystically lit up at night so you can enjoy feeling like you’re in a secret garden when the sun goes out.

Living on St Kilda Road, you’ll also be incredibly close to the Yarra River, a perfect expanse on which to enjoy a run. In the mornings, you can watch university students row down the river, and at night, enjoy the sparkling reflections of the city lights.

Play Some Sport at Fawkner Park

Fawkner Park is a lovely green expanse that can give you a break from the towering, modern Melbourne skyline. Whether you want to head to the oval to kick the footy or stop in at the tennis centre for a game of doubles, there is plenty of room to run around and enjoy yourself. If you fancy yourself a decent batsman, bring your gear to the cricket nets and practice your swing and bowl.

Fawkner Park also offers a lovely playground for the kids, as well as plenty of pathways so you can run, walk, ride your bike, skateboard or rollerblade all the way.

Enjoy All That Albert Park and Albert Park Lake Have to Offer

Very close to St Kilda Road is Albert Park and Albert Park Lake. For those who like to keep it simple, a nice jog around the water and a stop at the outdoor gym is a great way to keep fit in your neighbourhood. There are also numerous sporting grounds and ovals, as well as smaller bowls clubs, tennis clubs, cricket ovals and more. If you like to spend some time on the water, you can join any of the boating and sailing clubs, like the Albert Park Yacht Club (which incidentally has a spiral tower out front – perfect for strength jogging), or even take up rowing.

On the opposite side of the lake is the Albert Park Public Golf Course, for those who enjoy a Sunday putt session. In addition, Albert Park is home to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre, complete with exercise classes, gym equipment and indoor and outdoor pools.
